I’m revising our regional workflow and looking for ultrasound presets that shave setup time without compromising image quality. At our main OR we run four rooms with 20-minute turnovers; locking depth/gain and nerve presets for supraclavicular and adductor canal on a SonoSite PX saved about four minutes per patient last week, but needle visualization still lags. Which presets or probe choices are giving you the fastest, cleanest starts for first cases?
For post-op care after TPLO, I’ve found that keeping the pets calm with a low-key environment really helps their recovery. It’s amazing how much a quiet space can reduce their anxiety. I usually recommend some soft music or even a white noise machine, which can help drown out any loud outside noises.
I hear you on the needle visualization issue — it’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, right? I’ve had good luck using the ‘Nerve’ preset and increasing the frequency a bit; it tends to give clearer images for those tricky blocks. @jgreenwood64, have you played around with adjusting the focus as well? It can sometimes help in those critical moments.
