The role of technology in anesthesia safety

I’ve been diving into studies about how integrating newer monitoring technology into anesthesia practices can impact patient safety. For instance, the use of gas monitoring systems seems to really help in reducing anesthetic wastage while maintaining a higher level of safety during procedures. Has anyone else noticed improvements with specific tools or systems in their practice?

I’ve definitely seen a difference with the new capnometers. It’s kind of like having a co-pilot in the OR — the monitoring really flags any little hiccups before they become big issues. Just last week, one alerted us to a slight ventilation problem, and we adjusted in no time.
