Risk assessment tools for anesthesia safety

I’ve been exploring various risk assessment tools that can help streamline the evaluation of patients before anesthesia. One I’ve found particularly useful is the ASA classification system, but I’m curious about what others are using to ensure patient safety. Do you have any recommendations or insights on integrating safety tools into our protocols?

There are definitely pros to the ASA classification, but I’ve started integrating the AANA guidelines for perioperative patient safety, which really help with clearer communication in the OR. > others are using to ensure patient safety. Do you have any experiences with that? It streamlines our pre-op discussions quite a bit.

Integrating checklists into your pre-op process can make a big difference. I’ve found that having a clear protocol reduces the chances of overlooking important factors. Have you tried incorporating any specific checklist systems?

The ASA classification is great, but I’ve also found that using a risk checklist really helps highlight potential oversights. Have you considered combining it with tools like the Apgar score or the Stop-Bang questionnaire for a more comprehensive view? It could enhance your assessments even further. @n_cooper23, what do you think about integrating those?
