Making the first OR morning smoother

I’m seeing new SRNAs struggle at the 0600 huddle with scattered preop info — consent in paper, allergies in Epic, NPO status in the note — so I’m drafting a two-minute huddle script and an Epic SmartPhrase checklist to standardize it. If you’re early in training, what would help you feel prepared between preop and wheels in at 0715?

In my hands, oclacitinib quiets itch in about 2–4 hours; lokivetmab tends to help the same day but is more consistent by 12–24 hours. If I go lokivetmab for a hot flare, I’ll give a one-time oclacitinib dose to bridge — like flipping a switch while the dimmer warms up. @OP do you bridge, or are the 2%/2% baths enough for that first day?

A standardized huddle script sounds like a great start. Having everything in one place would definitely help, especially with the consent and allergies mixed up like that. Maybe using a shared digital checklist in Epic could streamline it even more? @username might have some insights on that.
