I’ve been exploring different techniques to enhance comfort for our pediatric patients during anesthesia induction. One method that I’ve found particularly effective is the use of distraction techniques, like interactive videos or simple games, which seems to alleviate anxiety. I’m curious if anyone else has had success with similar strategies or has other tips to share.
I totally get where you’re coming from with using distraction techniques. I’ve had luck with bubble machines during induction; the kids seem mesmerized and it totally shifts their focus. But , sometimes it can be hard to get the machine working right when you’re in a rush.
I’ve found success with tactile toys — like stress balls or squishy toys — during induction too. It’s amazing how much a simple sensory distraction can shift their focus. , sometimes it drives me nuts when parents don’t see the benefit of using these methods.
I’ve had good results with using calming music during induction. It’s like giving them a mini spa experience right before surgery — really shifts the atmosphere. @b_thomas99, maybe combining that with your bubble machine could be a fun combo.
