Anesthesia jokes that only we get

Ever notice how the only people laughing during a code are the ones handling the anesthesia? I remember the time we had to rush a patient in for emergency surgery after a failed intubation, and I jokingly said, ‘It’s not my fault; I didn’t bring my lucky lollipop!’ At least we can still find humor in chaos.

, those moments are wild! I had a similar experience where we had to improvise with a backup laryngoscope last minute. It’s funny how humor helps take the edge off, but I’m just glad we can laugh about it after the fact.

It’s so true! We’ve got to find the humor in it or we’d all be a mess. I once joked that our ‘backup plan’ was just to spin the intubation tray and let the universe decide.
